Admission
Candidates for admission must have an MA degree (or equivalent, such as a Diploma or the First State Examination) in one of the participating or related disciplines; they must demonstrate outstanding grades which qualify them for doctoral studies in the participating disciplines.
Fellowship candidates are required to submit a letter of motivation (max. 500 words), a detailed CV, an outline of the research to be conducted in the dissertation (between 5 and max. 10 pages incl. footnotes and a bibliography) and two letters of reference. The admissions committee selects the most promising from among the applications submitted and invites the candidates to an interview on which admission is based. As a general rule admission is for three years, but at the end of the second year it can be extended by an additional half-year, by application, for valid reasons. Likewise, if no benchmark is met, the fellowship can be withdrawn.
Note: Fellowships within the Graduate Programme have already been awarded. Deadlines for further applications will be announced on this website.
