Reason and Subjectivity: The "Frankfurt Lectures" will start in early November with Charles Larmore
19 October 2009
On November 2 and 3, 2009, the renowned moral philosopher Charles Larmore will be the first speaker in the newly-established "Frankfurt Lectures" of the Cluster of Excellence "The Formation of Normative Orders". In two lectures, Larmore will present his theory concerning the close connection between reason and subjectivity.
For its new presentation series, the Cluster of Excellence plans, with immediate effect, to invite an outstanding international scholar to Frankfurt each semester. Each round of the ‘Frankfurt Lectures’ will provide a framework for examining a specific aspect of the formation of normative orders in a theoretically innovative way which promotes insight into contemporary developments. The guest lectures themselves and the subsequent book publication will make the work of the Cluster accessible to the interested public and contribute to stimulating public dialogue.
The two lectures by Charles Larmore will take place on Monday, November 2 ("Vernunft") and Tuesday, November 3 ("Subjektivität"), on the Westend Campus (Hörsaalzentrum, HZ 6), in both cases from 7 to 9 p.m. All information concerning the Frankfurt Lecture I with Charles Larmore is to be found here.
